Zynga poker chips are not real
First thing you have to remember when playing Zynga poker is that the chips aren't real (lol). And this affects the game play much. Real money players' strategy still works -- mostly. But the main difference is that there are more players willing to invest on the draw (that is to bet on a card yet to be dealt because they are waiting to complete a flush for example). But that said, Zynga poker is still poker.
From my experience, playing now mostly on the sit-n-go tables, slow playing is still the most effective way to win at this game. Slow playing simply means not raising at the first top pair you flop (or turn). To illustrate, if you are dealt A-K and the flop is A-K-A, you do not go all in. You check. Call if some fool raises (and do not re-raise). Check still on the turn. And call again if someone still raises. But bet hard on the river. I prefer betting just the pot, but hey, if you want to, go all in.
Hurt one player on the river with one hand like that and believe me you will earn a reputation on that table. And this reputation can be used as an advantage at the latter part of the game (by stealing pots, which will be discussed in another entry).
Patience is the key. At the sit-n-gos, you are given 1,000 chips at the start and the big blind begins at 20. If you are not a fool who will invest blind on each and every hand, you will see a lot cards dealt your way before you burn that 1,000. Pick your spots. The fold button is your best friend.

I will post at a latter time when slow-playing is not the way to go. And hey, I know there are a lot of experts out there. Players who are far better than me. So feel free to share your expertise here at the comments section or on the other threads above.
