I was 16 million in chips, thereabouts, when I started the day yesterday. Bored at the 4K BB tables, I tried my hand at the next higher table, the 10K BB table. Quickly lost a million before I got my bearings. So I was 15 million, buying in at the 10K BB tables for 120 K each time. Once I got going, I found myself winning (and 10K BB tables means you win/lose a million every half hour or so of play).
I'm so glad you could visit.

How to play with pocket pairs
Getting pocket pairs can be real tricky. They look pretty and can be misleading in that it looks stronger than it actually is. One has to remind oneself that a pocket pair, even an AA pocket pair, is still just a pair.
Current chip count
Current chip count hovers from 14.5 million to near 16 million as I am currently playing hold 'em in the 2-4K tables. Have yet to break 16 million barrier though. Losing/winning 1 million a day.
Nice and slow
I recently moved. As a consequence, I had to change internet service providers. For some strange reason, the new ISP is not letting me get inside the shootouts and sit n gos. And so I needed to relearn how to play classic Texas Hold 'Em.
Zynga poker career update
Risk management
I am tempted right here to start spewing statistics. That's all well and good. And you can read all about that right here. But what I want to really focus on is what to do with this knowledge.
Bad beats
Before we proceed to further discussions on strategy and whatnot, let us get one thing out of the way first, there is NO PERFECT WAY TO PLAY POKER. There is only the smart way, there is no perfect way. Even the smartest poker players get bad beats.
Check-raise
Check-raising is the most basic poker strategy a noob needs to learn. The idea is pretty simple, really. I just don't understand why there are those who think they know poker and yet simply does not understand what check-raising is all about.
Zynga poker chips are not real
First thing you have to remember when playing Zynga poker is that the chips aren't real (lol). And this affects the game play much. Real money players' strategy still works -- mostly. But the main difference is that there are more players willing to invest on the draw (that is to bet on a card yet to be dealt because they are waiting to complete a flush for example). But that said, Zynga poker is still poker.
Zynga poker for noobs
So, you know that a straight beats three-of-a-kind (trips). Well, good for you. You know the rules of the game. But can you play poker? I mean, really play poker?
How I won at the shootouts
I played Zynga poker shootouts for a month and won it three times. I actually won it twice within 2 days because I had won my first tournament 12 hours before the IPAD raffle qualifiers. The first win however took a week of trying.
